And this is how the fall went with caution to the wind
head first    mouth agape
spread open on an electric field
and the sun blazed on
defiant to the changing of seasons
blood moon eclipse
on the rise

hallow's eve a shimmering
searchlight

extinguished

candles always flicker

a full thanksgiving moon
teetered like a heavy ship out at sea
all crammed up and predicting a storm

the solstice    a zephyr
a breath from my ancestors
full of
labrynths and fire

new moon in aquarius
and I summon the
pureness and tranquility of snow
the cycle of seasons
drawing the same breath of Redwoods
i give thanks
in awe of the balance
always shifting

Sunshine Dancer

(1995)

Something is wrong
as the moon rises
bringing light to the dark hearts
who must see light to survive

And he will follow always
to be chasing after her
The glorious one
who brings light to all
and warms their hearts

she will shine on him
creating colors
for his soul
and the Sunshine Dancer
thinks she may be happy soon

waiting by the light of the moon
always he will be reaching and pulling
so that he may find the truth
and he pulls it close
only to let it back again

Everyday the continuous struggle
the dew teardrops of the confused soul
which will be burned up by the sun
the glorious one
will dry the surface
and offer eternal hope
The dew which blankets us in sadness
and the clouds which keep her hidden
as he tries to see through

Everyday he will chase her
but she must always move
through the continuous cycle
never knowing why
But she will shine upon him
to show all his glory

Yet he may never see
below the surface
Only a reflection
and he may never tell her the truth
and time and time again he sends a shooting star
an angel
that decorates the sky
to dive down

But the angel
never returns
lost in deep sea

Crazy Like Coltrane

(1999)

I continue to exert myself and blow
Swinging up and down
Echoing off pavement
Brick
Cement
of Worcester Centrum
Sliding into and over
Obnoxious Sirens
Surrounding
into the ears of
brothers and sisters
who cry out in protest
into the ears of policemen who are beating
my brother and sister to the ground
rough pavement
which is giving rise to my voice
Five armed men
to seize and lock my sister
Chaos as armed
Dark and Shiny Helmut Clubstick Men
Erupt
Grabbing
Seizing those who can not remain
silent against injustice
energy emanating
through my horn I enter them all
Senseless they grab
their eyes wild
afraid
yet they are holding the killing machines
senseless
they have control
senseless
they take our lives
our bodies, our future
our love
and lock them away
to become inward
wrinkled like a pit
or Rampant
like a wild horse
Mistrustful
defiant
Crazy like Coltrane
Their energy runs through my veins
Hierarchy perpetuated
Hatred created
Overwhelming me
as I Cry
blowing
love
freedom
understanding

Crux

Like a dank cellar
I can see the splintered light
Pouring in from the worn door
each shaft a direction
a path
I have been reaching for the door way
grabbing at light
It falls through the fingers like dust
A mockery
This is where Babylon likes to keep you
in the cellar
weighted down

Sparrow

Do I think that you are lying?
No
But
Your words have no weight
You don't even believe them
You are floating as a cloud
as if magic
Flying Fairylike
through this world
but
I see you swimming
swirling in a sea of oceans full of colors
confused
your eyes reflecting
this visual cacophony
darting about they
search for solid ground
reaching out you
find refuge in a woman's strong arms momentarily
you take her sails and fly her sea
but you slip away
always
an unbeleiveing sparrow

For Joey, Robin and Philip

For Joey,  Robin and Philip

Philip Seymour Hoffman
Are you coming to the tree?
Oh Philip
I am sorry we were not at the tree
You didn’t wait long enough
You fell
You couldn’t see
All that shit in your veins
clouded your vision

Robin
Were you waiting at the tree?
Did you see Philip?
Your lights were so bright
Maybe you blinded each other

Flares
Sparked and Spinning
Bright whirlwinds of light so piercing
No one could
see past your shields
those god damned shields
My friend had one too
I tried to smash it
Stared so hard I couldn’t see anything
Didn’t know where I was anymore
I never found an opening
I never broke through
And he never got home
Burned up
Faded out like a shooting star
Nothing but smoke

This earth keeps pulsing
the faint rhythm barely perceptible at times
Can explode into a stampede that pounds the senses
And sometimes it is so hard to bear witness
Turns you dark
Burns you out
Burns you up

This twilight is growing dimmer
But it’s not all smoke yet
Sparks flicker here and there
And you gotta capture those like lightening bugs
and hold them in a jar in your heart

Babylon

Part one

Babylon
you come from all angles
suffocating you surround my physical being
Pushing you are pressure
on the energy I emanate from within
I feel you
weighing heavy
coming from all angles
the poison air I breathe, brother
to the river running poison with
industrial waste
while the pleasure saturated population
continues to consume greedily with haste
Babylon you come from all angles
shooting out from behind the eyes of strangers
from all angles you come
we grow feeding on your pollution
my lungs are black from your factories
my mind was once tricked by your lies
my hands are hardened from struggle
you've created so much work
it seems insurmountable
Babylon
you come from all angles
you are so hard to beat
you push back
on the energy I emanate from within

Part two

in vain
searching eyes
we are a scanning tribe
glaring over your black topped horizons
we gasp at skies
of dreams untold
we are a drain
in your swirling sea of misery
a light
without shadow
holding true to our breath
